Thanks guys for all your help with the last Vette I looked at... needless to say I did not purchase it. I looked at another today it's a 2000 Vette Black 6 speed with 81,000 miles. Car fax came up clean no accidents no problems. Vette has a couple scratches here and there but nothing major. Drives and shifts nice. Asking price is $22,900.00. Im probably going to trade in my 1997 Camaro SS (6 speed). Its funny the SS feels faster but if you look at the MPH the Vette seems to get up much faster. Anyway, anything I should look for on this Vette? They gave me the Vette overnight so I will really go over it in the morning.
That sounds high to me. For reference I picked up my 2000 Coupe this spring (the worst time to buy one to get a good price) for $24,500 with 35k on the clock. It also had a lot of extras like a full Alpine sound system, Borla and Blackwing. The fact the owner let you take it overnight tells you something good. 81k on the clock seems like a lot but if you can get the car for say $20,500 then maybe it would be ok.
81k roughly translates to 13k a year which tells me this car was a daily driver. Which means rain, dirt and everything else that comes with driving a car every day. Ask yourself this, would you spend an extra $3k to get a car with 1/2 the mileage? If so then I would pass on this one because they are out there. Especially if you are willing to drive a couple hundred miles to pick it up.

While this might be the case there are those of us out there who put that much mileage on...as our second car. I'm going to hit it this year and the vet is not my daily driver. I do drive it to work sometimes when the weather is nice.
Just make sure to look at the condition of the interior, exterior, etc. Even with "higher" mileage, if the rest of the car is in good shape, it's a good sign that the owner took car of the car.
That price seems really high to me for that many miles. I just bought my 2001 with 20K miles for a very good price plus it had a lot of extras that I don't have to go out and buy. I have had my car 24 hours and already looking at buying more Corvette items.
It took mer about 2 months and missed out on 2 other deals before I got mine. There are awesome cars out there but you have to be prepared to buy immediately. If your willing to drive I would wait.

J84Buick make a lot of sense. I would agree with his comments! Keep looking!

Look to see if the column lock has been addressed (preferably with a column lock bypass kit), check for leaks in the rear differential seals and check for rocking seats. Other than that, the normal stuff should be looked at. See if you can get ahold of the maintenance records if any were kept. Price seems high for 81K miles though.
Well, I got the Vette back from my mechanic/body shop today. Vette came back with a very high rating from the shop. They said it was in great condition except for a few scuffs and scratches on the bumpers. The only thing mechanically wrong is a small power steering leak. I went back to the dealer and showed them the report. After an hour of talking..this is the deal they offered: 3 year powertrain warranty, repair the power steering leak and repaint the front and rear bumpers. The price went from $22,900.00 to $17,900.00 minus $7,000.00 for my trade total cost $10,900.00. Bumpers look good to me back his a scuff about the size of a softball right side towards the bottom really not noticable and the front just has some stone chips.
2000 Vette is sitting in the driveway! Thanks guys for all your help. If it wasn't for the forum I would have bought the first one I looked at. Anybody want to buy my C4? Thanks again you guys were a huge help.
