Do you remember the first wave you ever got?
I remember mine. I was out for my first ever test drive of a C5, the day after Christmas last year, and a couple of guys in a passing C5 waved at me and the used car salesman sitting in the front seat. We both waved back. I thought, "cool"! Talk about instant gratification.
I think it was 1968 right after I bought my first 63 split window. Had another wave today I was coming back from the store and 3 kids 4-6 years old were playing in the front yard a block from my house. 1 kid was waving like mad the other one was just pointing at my car, I enjoyed that wave as much or more than one from another vette.
Yep. I was cruising home from work on my 5th day of ownership and passed through Columbus NJ. Went by a rather new house that I KNOW has a EB (I think) Vert. One of the owners was in the front yard and waved as I went by, and I returned the wave, of course.
Yup, the first weekend I after I bought mine, went home to see my parents and on the way back from Wichita Falls to Dallas, I black Vert, top down, gave me a wave and it didn't really dawn on me at the moment.
It was in the summer of 68 i had 1961 Corvette roadster and Bill Brokilsby who was a legend in town waved at me. He had a 1962 Corvette fuel injected, with moon tank set in the front grill and a parachute in the rear. You could hear him coming a mile away. Not quite sure what he did but it had a distintive whish sound when he shifted. No one in town could beat him. Or matter of fact no from out of town either On his wedding night he hit a palm tree and uprooted the whole tree. Died instantly. Biggest funeral session i have ever seen. Hundreds of cars followed behind the hearst. I surely do miss those days
I tried to think back, but 40 plus years has made things a little less clear.
But I do know it was shortly after I got my '55 and it was another Polo White Vette which seeing any Vette was a rare sight in those days.
I read much later, since the duPont Co. had owned a major interest in GM, that early production Vettes were given to members of the family to try out. So, by living in the Wilmington, DE area, seeing another Vette really wasn't that rare.
I remember being about 5/6 years old with my dad in his 1974. We were sitting in the first spot at a light and another Vette was accross from us...he waved and my dad waved back, I remember saying, "Daddy, do you know him?" He then explained the wave to me. Never will forget that. Thanks, dad.

Sure do.
Day after I got my Vette, I was headed into town on a four-lane road when another Torch Red Vette passed and the driver gave me a friendly wave. I thought it was pretty cool.
