I'm trying to figure out how hard it would be to replace a mod red interior with a regular black interior. Obviously new seats. Anybody done this? Are the black interior panels readily available? Fairly easy to replace?
I'm the market for a C5, but don't like the mod red and trying to decide if its worth it to buy one with the mod red and just do a replacement.

Thanks for any info.
you could always have the effected areas professionally re-dyed. i'm not sure what the cost would be, but i'm sure it would be far less than OEM replacement parts, and everything is available thru GM. i purchased one seat back covering and the cost thru gmpartsdirect was $84 + 16 s/h. off the top of my head, i'd guess better than $1500 to changeover with new OEM parts. you might shop ebay for used stuff. hope this helps -
If you haven't even bought a car yet I would wait and buy what you want. If you get a great deal and want to change it's not a big deal. I heard of people doing an exchange on the forum the mod red is loved by many.

I agree that if you find the car you want is it just happens to have a mod red interior in it, try doing a swap with another forum member - mod red is a popular interior combination.
I did this Mod Red conversion on my 97 that had black interior...I got a complete interior out of an 03 Z06 including two seats, door panels and both driver side and passenger side knee panels...it was easier for me since the car was already black inside...it looked AWESOME when done...the car was Torch Red so the red accents inside really made it stand out!

Lots of people would gladly swap their all black interior for your mod red pieces, and probably pay for your shipping too. Don't let it stop you from buying a particular car (and you might grow to like it besides).
jasonvt: should you purchase a car with the mod red interior and want to swap for an all black interior, please let me know. My son has a 1999 FRC with the black interior and would like to have the mod red interior. I have the mod red in my Z06 and wouldn't trade it for anything. You may find you like that interior once you find a car.
i have a mint z06 with a black interior that i will gladly swap for a mod red interior. there is 0 wear on mine so if you get a car with a mod red interior let me know and i will swap.
