Wierd: Speedometer light dims?

Wierd: Speedometer light dims?
Hello all,
This is a strange one... The "MPH" light within the speedometer cluster rythmically dims and brightens ever so often. It does not occur all the time and I cannot seem to determine any corrolation to other factors.
It's a 1998 6 speed with column lock fix and that's it..
Any clues? It's just annoying, but no other problems.

Are your windows tinted? Does it happen when you are driving through shade into bright sunlight or vice-versa? It's probably the light sensor above the buttons for the DIC. If it is blocked from light it would dim the mph light quickly.
