Im on my 4th Vette. 2 were auto, the last one was a LT1 6speed & now I have my Z with the MN12........I vowed never to own another Vette or any other sports car without a standard shift transmission.
A m6 is like a new woman, it's fun to drive, BUT after a few trips down the road, it gets kind of old...I have had several sports cars with sticks and loved them all, BUT, it gets old after a while, in heavy traffic, on nice cruses through the hills. The A4 will alsways be fun, hell it's a vette... I am getting a little older I guess, so i just like the auto. I would never tell someone the A4 is better than the M6, but don't tell me the M6 is better than the A4. It's just like the color of your car. Some like black, some like white, some like in-between... There is NOTHING wrong with either! get what you want. But don't forget, a good woman can make you scream no matter how she changes your gears.........
Bingo. The main reason I have an auto. I used to win alot with a stick, but particularly for bracket racing, the auto is where it's at. Most of the manuals around Detroit are converting to autos when they get serious about winning.

If its your toy manual if its your daily driver auto......hard to drink coffee, eat bagel, read mail, and change radio stations while shifting SAFELY
You shouldn't be doing that anyway. Good cause for an accident and messing up your baby.
I bought my 01' A4 for 17.5k loaded, but would have gladly paid a couple more grand for the MN6 if I could have found one(ha!). The automatic is fun, and sometimes nice around town, but I itch for the clutch. Fortunetly I have the 240sx and RX7 to row through the gears, but I'm selling the Nissan, and deciding whether to use the money for an LSX swap in the RX7, or sell the A4 and pick up an 03' Electron Blue Z06.
You only need to know a few things for REAL performance,.................drag racing automatic Roadracing 6 speed!!! and the Imortal words of the prophet "Mans gotta know his limitations"!! (St. Eastwood)

Between the cells, handheld and cigs, for my DD I choose an A4, but that's the only reason....
Get a manual if you could
If you're driving it like a Vette was meant to be driven, BOTH hands would be full of steering wheel and shift ****!
Best thing to do with the cell and handheld is to toss them off a high cliff and go for a long twisty drive where no one can reach you! As for the cigs, I always thought that if your face was on fire, someone ought to put it with an extinguisher before you get hurt!
I had a MN6 and was shopping for another Vette. Test drove an A4. Realized it's just not the same car with an automatic! Stick shift for me!!!
But to each his own! Smart to drive BOTH before buying.
