Default Cleaning her up.

When I bought the 2003 Z about two weeks ago it was in need to some wax and major detailing. The car has just about 45K miles on it. I went all over the car for hours, cleaning engine compartment, the vortex CAI, wax, etc. Tint, shorty antenna, key hole cover, stainless inserts were all added in the past two weeks. Here is the end result.

Today I added another coat of Meguiars GC and Billy Boat bullets (quad tips) are on the way. Lowering is also in the near future.

Drooling over this car!

Congrats ! Nice Job, especially on the rear brake vents

Nice choice of color too ... kind of hard to get good pics with all the reflections ... I know that all too well with my black 04 Z

What did you use to clean the engine bay? Mine is in need of a cleaning and I'd like to get that started on the right foot

Once you get it clean do what I do.

After drying the car from a wash. I take a small damp towel, and wipe everythign down by hand (Of course you should be carefull not to wipe something that doesn't need to be wiped) This way, it never gets out of hand. I somtimes go as far as using some meguires on the plastic panals so they shine real nice.

It looks great. Any tips on the engine compartment would be welcome.

Great job. Looks beautiful. I love black cars, just couldn't find one when I was in the market for a Z06

Try this, spray Fantastic (household cleanser) and wipe off the engine parts to clean off the dirt and grease. Then just mist the entire engine bay again and let it dry. The parts will dry clean and will shine and it will clean much easier the next time.

I hate black...will never buy another black car again... can't stand it!! But your car looks awesome. Nice job.

BTW, I had the B&B Bullets on my Z and they sound awesome, way better than the Ti exhaust and better than the Borlas I had on my last C5. Just make sure you get a partition so you can talk on your cell phone while driving.

Default Loving it.

Thank you for all the replies. All I can do is stand and stare at this car recently! I'm eagerly awaiting the B&B Bullets (quads) and a slight lowering.

She goes to her first show tomorrow night. I'll be sure to post some pictures. Shes not the cleanest Z (due to previous 44K miles) but I'm working on it!

Looks great...I drove my new one home 430 miles a few weeks ago. I go lucky, Tom put so much wax on it, that none of the muck and road film from numerous thunderstorms stuck to her...

Looks like you'll be keeping it for a while now. I can't believe you bought such a project car.. ...Only kidding, it's nice when you can add the things you want right away without fixing things first.

By the way, I like the wheels, are the chrome or polished? I want to change the dark pewter to bright ones on my 04 Z06.
