If you want to legitimately pass smog in CA, there are only a few shortie headers that are legal (Carb EO number.) Anyone with longtube headers is either pulling them and returning to stock for inspection, or has got a crooked or stupid smog shop.
I know Borla, B & B, and Pacestter make headers with an EO number. See this link: http://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/aftermk...es/amquery.php Search the exhaust category. It will give you a huge list, and unfortunately, there is no easy way to search it.

Long tubes will not pass the "look" from the smog guy... and it could pass the sniff test though.
So long tubes wont pass the visual, but will it pass the sniff test with out the high flow cataytic? Or do you need the High flow in order to pass the sniff?
That's correct about the issues of the LT. Not sure about high flow cats. My guess it still might pass the sniff test even with the HF cats; but I am not 100% positive. I doubt if it would pass the sniff without the cats.
As for myself, I am waiting for my Reg to come in (smog check mandatory this time) and have it smog cert with stock exhaust - except for the Cat Back Corsa Touring, before I do the install with the headers,HF cats and x-pipes.

Mine passed a sniffer test in TN with Hi-flow cats. However, the emissions were about 10 times what they were when stock. Without cats, I don't think it would have passed.
Thanks a lot for the advice. I think i am just going to go with long tubes and those cats and hope it all goes well, if not i can always strip it; then re-esemble it.
Do any of you know what kind of long tubes would perform well and sound good?

That's the subject of about a hundred threads on the forum. LG, Kooks, or American Racing seem to be most popular at hte moment. I've got the LG Pro system w/cats, and love it. It is a few bucks more than the others, but I'm satisfied with the improved performance and sound. With just the headers and a Blackwing air filter, tuned of coure, I'm was at 340rwhp/354 rwtq. The headers were fairly quiet with the stock mufflers, but I put on a set of GHL Bullets, and now it sounds sick.
good luck, only the shorties will pass the visual (with paperwork) and they really won't net out much anyhow. you'd have to get creative unless the tester is a dumbazz
