Default strange question

Here a question I have not seen posted on this forum, I am a big guy about 5-11” 265 lb. In weight, my problem is the seat belt, the ones in my vette seem to be a little short, does any body else have this problem. And if so is there an extension that on can buy , don’t need much another 3to 5 inches would be great. Now I am talking about the belt that goes across the lap not over the shoulder.

Seems odd that they are too short. I let a buddy of mine drive mine and he's probably 5'10 300+ and he had no problem. I wonder if there is just a problem with the seat belt mechanism not letting the belt all the way out or something?

I'm 6'-4" 230lbs, and I can grab my lap belt (while buckled) and almost touch the steering wheel. Are you sure that the belt is out as far as possible?

I have the same issue, I am 6'0" 220lbs 33 inch waist. I don't think its the length of the seat belt but the angle of the seat belt buckle. The buckle leans in on my hips and can be uncomfortable after a while.

I found this post out on a blog - worth checking w/your local dealer -

GM gives away Seat Belt Extenders, either 8" or 10" - and they are available for free at most GM dealerships for those "extra large people", you just have to ask for them. Being uncomfortable in the seat, wearing a belt is a whole lot better than being in traction for 4 months in the hospital.

My wife has the vette out, so I can't verify this but:
I think the lap and shoulder belts are one and the same. The buckle slides up or down to adjust?
My '03 has the belt folded over itself for about five inches and sticthed together. When I get in the car, before I pull the belt up, this fold is just below the arm rest. In fact, it often snags on the door pabel when I pull it on. I always assumed GM did that so you could cut the stitching and gain ten inches. Maybe?

When I get into the car I pull on the belt and have a heck of a time trying to clip it in the receiving end , I pull trying to get every mm I can , and this is on the driver or passenger side also.

Hey thanks for all the great responses, I did not know about the free extension from the dealer

Oops. Wife just came home. The lap and shoulder belts are NOT one continuous belt. What the hell do I know?

I am 6'3" and weigh about 285. The seat belt is long enough to go around me, but it is difficult to reach the buckle so close to the console. My dealer gave me two free extensions, one for each seat. They come in 9" and 15" sizes. They had to order them, but I had them in about two days. It surely makes it easier to buckle the belt now.

I'm 6'1 311 and I don't have any problems with the seat belt. Now obeying the speed limit is another thing...

Sounds to me that you're in need of a diet.

I've seen people much larger than 5'11 and 265 drive a vette and not have a problem with seat belt being to short. May want to get your seat belt looked at.
