Default Need Advice

Hey guys, I feel out of place here on the corvette boards seeing as how I own a mustang, but if all goes well that will change in a few days. I have been trying to trade in my 03 Mustang for a slightly older vette and now I think I found the one, it's an 01 5 speed with 61k miles for 15.6k, does this sound like it is a pretty good deal? Hopefully I wont have to pay much out of my pocket for it if I get a good trade in value. Thanks

an 01 6 speed with 61k miles going for 15.6k that sounds very very cheap...I think the next question is, what's wrong with it? You know what they say about being too good to be true.

You are always better off selling your car yourself. Te dealer will only give you wholesale value. If you don't want to mess with it, don't. But remember, you are very unlikely to get "top" value. Ask the dealer if you can take the Corvette to a mechanic to have it checked out. If the car is good, go for it.

Sorry I'm not used to fancy things like 6 speed trannys But ya I was thinking that, the car is down in Miami and I'm in Atlanta, so it's going to be tough going down there just to look at it and start negotiating down there, I'm trying to get as far as I can with emails and phone calls.

I would try to sell your car first- the dealer is going to LOW ball you on the trade...the only thing going for you on a trade is the tax benefit...only pay tax on the difference of the two cars...I just bought my 2000 coupe about 250 miles from me from a private seller...you may want to widen your search in your area a few hundred miles so you can go see and drive the car first...

And I also agree that the price you mention is pretty low considering the market...it would pose some questions in my mind as to what is wrong with it...

I originally looked at an 01 Z06 on a dealers lot - but they would not budge on the price (more then they could have) and I was thinking of trading in a VERY nice clean low mileage truck...they came in $4500 less then Kelley Blue Book trade in! so I said F**K that and sold it on my own and got my asking price...sure it took 2 weeks...,but I made $5000 in that two weeks!

Cheers- and I am sure there are plenty of Vettes in your neck of the woods!

My 01 w/ 22.5 K 6 speed was $28K, that either seems like the deal of the century or it has hidden problems, good luck!

That doesnt pass the smell test. You wont find an 01 ANYTHING for that price if it's legit.

Here's Kelly BB values for a fair condition trade:

Excellent $21,050 Good $19,840 Fair $17,720

That would be absolute rock bottom price on a 01 and that's wholesale to the dealer.

Yeah, that deal does sound a little "to good to be true"

BTW, I went from an '02 GT (which I liked a lot) to a '02 C5, and you are going to more than happy once you make the switch. C5's are awesome cars

Don't give up the search if this deal doesn't work out.

Sounds way to cheap to me also. You should have a forum member in Miami take a look at it for you. Members are always glad to help!

At that price there must be something wrong with it.

Run a carfax and have mechanic look at the vehicle. It sounds like something major may be wrong with it at that price.
