Default GENTEX Rearview Mirrors

I'm thinking of installing a GENTEX mirror with Compass/Temp/Interior light features in my FRC. I miss not having the compass feature and I always have a difficult time reading the outside temp on my factory setup. The glare is terrible.

Anyhow....anyone have a GENTEX mirror in their Corvette ? Your comments and advice are appreciated.

I put one in three years ago. Love it. Mine is the "full meal deal" with temp, compass, lights, and three homelink transmitters. Works great. Only hassle was getting the wiring harness through the firewall for the external temp sensor.

As mine is a convertable, the readout can be hard to read at times with the top down. I don't know you will fare better than the factory with glare problems.

SixSpeeder....thanks for your comments.

With a FRC I shouldn't have any glare at all.

BTW....I was wondering if I could get the full meal deal like yours. Where did you purchase yours ?

The stock mirror had the led in the center to light up the shifter area at night. Do you nitice the lack of one at night on the Gentex?

I added a Gentex mirror in my 99 Hardtop. The mirror I got was actually pulled out of a wrecked 06 Jeep Wrangler as those have Gentex mirrors installed from the factory. It is autodimming, dual line compass/temp and LED maplights. I even went as far as adding that little amber "mood" light that corvette mirrors come stock with. (The gentex mirrors will not have this light). I paid $80 for it on ebay which is much less than the $300 Gentex wants for it. I did have to do some of my own wiring for the temp sensor and the maplights polarity was reversed so I had to add a relay. But it works great and I love it.

Unfortunately I do not have any good pictures of it but I do recommend this mirror its great.
