Challenged by a Subaru
As I was driving down 15 from L.A. today, a few miles North of Lake Elsinore, some tool in a Subaru with a fart can exhaust pulled next to me as I was doing about 80 MPH in the number 2 lane and kept gunning his engine, then falling back alongside me. He was trying to bait me and I wasn't taking the bait. I just laughed and looked straight ahead. Must have driven the guy nuts. This went on for a couple of miles before he took the hint and took off.
I have absolutely zero interest in "proving" anything or putting on a show for morons. Frankly, I enjoyed frustrating him by simply ignoring him.
People don't challenge others if they are just stock.
I wish that was a true statement. But people seem to want to try and race evertime I have the car out no matter what they are driving. I find it nice to know I am driving a car everyone wants to prove something against and that I have nothing to prove. You did a good thing.

Sadly that's true. I've had everything from VW's to Mini's to Toyota Camry's try to race me. I usually just laugh and keep driving.
Yeah, I had the same thing happen to me with a riced out Toyota Corolla. I don't think he necessarily wanted to race, though -- he seemed to enjoy listening to my exhaust.

I think most do it so they can see what the Vette can do , I have been challanged by cars that sounded terrible , smoked , and looked to be capable of getting to 60 in about 15 sec .
they are just pushing your buttons .

Yeah, same thing happened to me last night at a stoplight except it was some kid in his mommy's BMW SUV. He waited for me to take off and when I did at my leisurly pace, (the new police station was on the corner) he took off like somebody was chasing him.
I'm sure he had a good time telling his friends how he smoked a Vette...

nice job.. .probably would of took you though. People don't challenge others if they are just stock.
Street racing....
If it were a stock STI it can do 0-60 in 4.5 seconds and high 12s. They aren't very difficult to drive either (I sell cars at a Hyundai-Subaru and have driven many).

Yes the stock Subaru STI's are very fast cars. They are sleepers. One day at the track a stock Subaru beat my buddies C5 M6 with no problem.
i hate ricers, especially persuasive ones. oh well, to each his own.
why comments like this....his subaru would probably take you. they are far from rice.....they are sick cars and the stis need very little money to easily hit low 12s high 11s. awd is awesome

Yup, got my a$$ handed to me (Y2KMN6) by one. Any 16y/o can increase the boost too.
While crusing at about 70 in the middle lane on the highway this past weekend, I had a junior butt-wipe and his sidekick pull up next to me in a Honda Civic and mades some signals that they wanted to race me.
I laughed at them and kept my pace, then they blew off and gave me a thumbs down like they were owed a race.
These "kids" forget that just a few weeks ago two 16 year old girls (probably in their same high school) died just up the road when their car was going too fast in the rain and slid off an exit ramp into a tree. The cause was primarily lack of experience and excessive speed.
