If you don't have a safe and nice place to keep the Vette, I'd wait until you could afford a nice area(garage) for it.
I'm 26, bought my Vette 2 weeks after my birthday, and love every minute of it. Was out cruising with the roof off after work, and my dad calls me from Texas. He's cruising through his lake property with the top down on his 86' C4 vertible. We got a nice laugh out of that.
But yes you should have a safe place for the car. You'll worry to no end about it otherwise.
I'm 23, bought a red 2000 M6 coupe about 4 months ago to celebrate my new job.
Personally, I would rather have put a down payment on a house, but sadly I'm stuck in Orange County where a shoebox next to the highway costs 300K- no way I can cover the mortgage on that.
Honestly, I'm probably never selling this car, and so am currently just not thinking about depreciation.
Be careful! You'll have guys lined up around the block to take you up on the your advise! What guy in their right mind wouldn't go for a smart woman who owns a Vette!!!

Hmmmmmmmm . . . Can I trade my wife in?
My husband won't trade me in for a newer model. Says that the depreciation hit he would take on me isn't worth it. But I think he is just using me for my vette.

Hey, your hubby's no dummy! I hear those newer models are high maintenance.
Get a house first.. it's a base to your future. It's the biggest expense one has in a lifetime, get an eary start.. Housing goes up all the time. Might not be as affordable in a few years.
I bought my house first for two reasons: (1) I wanted to get the HELL out of apartment life and have an investment; (2) I wanted to have a garage to keep the vette in because of all the car break-ins and theft.
Yeah, you only live once, but you are still very young and have plenty of time. I'm 35 and am glad I bought the house first--its the smarter thing to do, but not the most fun thing to do.
I'm 23 and bought my 'vette this year. No house. Married. No kids. Live in an apartment.
No question about the house. I live in Northern VA. Why in gods name would I want a house here?
aside from that, a C5 of proper vintage and miles is no more expensive than really anything else. The payments on my '99 C5 are substantially less than my wife's '04 Honda Accord (and she doesnt even have the v6 lol).
So my vote is: you're only young once, get the corvette
im 26, and we have our whole life to work and have a house. get the car and have fun at a young age while you can. i now have both but you need to have your fun first (car)
You were very wise to get a good education first, this is the best investment you will ever make in your life. It will return dividends for years to come. Next step, buy yourself a house with a spacious garage for that Vette. The Vette will be in the garage before you know it.
Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
