You'll get MANY different opinions on this subject matter :D:D.

I plan on doing what you did, below 3500 for the first 500 miles, no WOT. Then between 500 and 1000 mile take it upto 5000 max. Change oil at 1000 miles, putting in UPF44 Ultragaurd oil filter, Mobil 1 and magnetic drain plug :D

After that -- let her rip!!

Start giving it brief bursts of WOT to 5000 to 6000 revs. Change the filter, but
you can let the oil go the full term. Make sure the oil is
properly topped off after the filter chnage and keep an eye on oil consumption. When you
have about a 1000 miles on it verify that the rev limiter is functioning!

U can start to open her up a bit at a time............... 4000.........4500.........then 5000 RPM s as U get to 1000 miles.......use short bursts in lower gears..........have fun

Brake in is NOT complete, but has progressed enough so that it is now time to start using the engine. If this were my car, I would (continue to) be doing runs up and down the rev range (idle to 6,000) at moderate throttle, and using WOT from 3000 to 5000; the former to set the rings, the latter to break in the rear differential gears. After each WOT run back down to cruise for 30 sec to 60 sec before another run; this breaks in the rear gears.

I will keep here below 6K untill 2000 miles. I'm a little over 1000 and I do plenty of quick bursts, but no extended time in the high RPM range. Even shifting at about 5K is quite a thrill. At least for me.

Scares the living heck out of the passanger too

Man....
You Z06 guys are too easy on your cars.. Wanna make 'em *really* fast(used loosely as they are fast as hell anyway;))??? Drive it varying the RPM all over the board for 250 miles(this breaks in the trans and rear end in as well). Change the oil. Take it to the track and beat the living hell out of it!!! That's what it was designed for... Part throttle to 5K? Give me a break!!! Run it hard and it will be one strong SOB. THe motor will run like you break it in, simple as that. Change the oil again at 1000 miles and start regular drain intervals....

You beat me too it! Had my EB 2002 out to the track at 250 miles (although not thrashing it). Fastest cars (model for model) I have ever seen have been run hard day 1. AND they do not blow up after 10-20,000 miles.

The only thing I don't do in the first 250 is jump on the brakes and in the first 500 dump the clutch/full throttle starts.

Bob

As soon as I get mine I'm gonna drain the oil and put in conventional 5W30-beat the living **** out of it and head straight to the track. Make about 20-25 passes with 6400 rpm full throttle shifts then go home. Once home I'll drain the oil, replace the oil filter and put in some more conventional 5w30 until I hit about 2000km then drain oil and put in synthetic. I feel if you drive it hard from day 1 she will always run hard-hell why worry we have a full warranty.

Vortech, you really think break-in with conventional is the way to go?

BTW, dyno happens on friday/saturday.

Yes i beleive it is the only way to go. My LS1 equiped Z28 came with conventional 5w30 and I ran it like that for about 5000km. I beat on the car from day 1. It never used any more than .5 a quart between oil changes. After 5000km i switched to 5w30 synthetic. Hell that car was an automatic and it ran 12.50@109mph all day long. I cannot understand why the SS's(camaro) came with synthetic-it's worth a few more ponies but only after the engine has broken in.
