Default storage for a removable top?

After three years of having my car I finally bought a glass top.
Now I need to buy a storage bag that will provide some protection for the paint when I put it in a closet or under the bed.

I am not a fan of ebay, and I looked in the for-sale section...

Any suggestions of where to look for one?
What would a factory one cost?

TIA

I got one from Mid America then went to Home Depot and bought some of those padded L racks that you can mount on the wall..they have the piece bent up at the end so the top can't slide off....mounted it up about head high....

from what I saw, that one has velcro closures...
is it a couple little strips or does the velcro run the length of the opening?

I like your idea about hanging it on the wall in the garage.
I don't want to open it up and have a bunch of spiders coming after me for disturbing them.

I'd go that route if the bag seals up somewhat.

I had my roof on those same type of L brackets mounted to a wall in my garage. It seemed very secure, but then I started to worry about the additional stress that may be placed on the fiberglass and acrylic tops because most of the weight of the top (which is significant) is being focused on a couple of small areas that weren't really meant to do that, directly on the roof material and not the metal frame. Any thoughts on that subject? Maybe I'm just being paranoid.

the bag closes pretty much all the way..there are a few openings and you get a little dust..no spiders I have had mine up there for over 2 years no issues whatsoever....and like I said I hung it high enough that I have to lift it over my head so no worries about hitting it and knocking it down

Mid-America and Ecklers sells storage tops. They work pretty well - I had one for my '99 which had both tops.

I bought my glass top on ebay for $350, no problems, looks new. I just stored my solid top under the bed w/ a big blanket around it, works great and I get to save $$ on mods!

I bought a storage pouch and wall mount from Mid-America. Keeps it clean and out of the way.

BTW: The top in the picture is white. It's currently at the shopping getting sprayed MSG.

Hey! Lemme ask you. How does that mid-am mount attach to your roof panel? Does it support it via the frame and traditional mount-points, or is is actually touching the fiberglass/acrylic parts?

I think you make a good point. But I think if you are careful you should be ok. Especially if you bottom brakets were padded with something. I plan on making a mount like this very soon.

I installed the "L" brackets (hardware store) that are used to store ladders, etc. Show on side wall at rear of vette Padded the metal part of the bracket with pipe insulatiion. Purchased storage bag from Mid America for around $50. The whole deal works like a charm. No spider problems. C5 XTC

Bought two "L" brackets from local hardware store. Padded the brackets with foam pipe insulation (fits perfectly), the bag was from Mid America. UKp out of the way, no spiders (and I do have them in the garage). Pipe insulatiion does a gret job of protecting the edge of the top. Bracket is deep enough to allow top to rest at a safe angle to the wall. C% XTC

I've got pretty much the same setup, but added bungee cords attached to eye-bolts to make sure no one (as in my kid's friends) accidently knocks the top off the brackets. Much cheaper than a lawyer for child homicide charges.
