I was teaching my wife to drive my 6 speed Z06 in an empty parking lot in the evening. Lot was behind a hospital and I saw 3 local patrol cars at the hospital on biz. 3rd unit noticed us and wheeled around in the lot facing/blocking my wife with lights on. Scared the heck out of us!
Turns out they figured that was what we were doing but one had just bought a C5 Black Vertte and he wanted to talk Corvettes. Really nice guys. Puts a different face on law enforcement. Now the wife was a bit rattled when we started again (stalled the car in first) but I couldn't blame her....
See not all of us are a-holes. We have six guys on my dept that have Vettes and all of us are Vette conscious. Tell the little lady good luck on her driving lessons.

No doubt, but the lights, horns, speakers etc. should NEVER be used unless a traffic or other violation has been committed. It is very disturbing to a driver to be "hit" with these even if the intent is innocent.

I've never seen an a-hole cop in Texas. I do think the Dallas transit cops are a bit bizzare, though

Thanks for the wishes!
It is a tribute to the car that it is so easy to drive. Took a couple of times to practice in a parking lot and now she is starting to drive on the street. My wife tried at first in our daughter's Miata to no avail. The Miata is a fun car but it has an unforgiving clutch on the 6 sp. Our daughter always gives me a hard time; says such a powerful car like a Vette should be harder to drive...
It was lights only on the patrol car and it met us head on (slowly, of course) to block our way. It was very much appropriate (imho) that they checked us out......

We'd all be more pissed if they let someone that obviously didn't know how to drive the car well steal it. I'm glad they checked it out. I hope you told them about CF.

Yeah, they don't mess around here either.
Kind of a, "Shoot first, ask questions later" policy.......
P.S. - The best way to show a person how to drive stick is to go get a manual tranny rent-a-car......then you can Fu$K it up as long as you pay the measly $18 insurance, hahaha

The local police down here are pretty decent. They wave and I have not had one tail me to see if I did anything wrong. When we have an event several stop by to chat and admire. Good guys really. I am sure there are probably a couple of dicks but I haven't seen any yet. Now when I was up in Maryland they were real azzholes.

Slideshow: A Jaguar designer's personal project imagines what a modern front-engined Corvette might look like if Chevrolet revisited the golden age of the Stingray.
