Default New Shifter-First Impressions

Just had the B&M Sports Shifter (45044) installed, and thought I'd share my thoughts.

What a difference! The new shifter is very tight and precise. Quick thows. But it does take a stronger effort than stock. But that's ok. I think this is what the vette was meant to be. You would never complain about increased effort, if the is the way the car came from the factory. No vibration and no noise and very smooth! Very easy to get into reverse and 5th & 6st geras. Thanks to a great install from the guys at FLP. Great job!

There has been one negative.....THE GAS STATION!! I'm having so much fun keepin' the revs up and rowing the gears, that the fuel gauge is on a fast and steady decline. OUCH!

So, if you're thinking about a new shifter, do it! Yeah, the effort is more, but the short shifts more than make up for it. I'll post pictures when I get the camera charged.

Congrats on the shifter

I went with a Hurst and I put it in about 2 weeks ago, took only about an hour or so. It does seem to be loosening up and not needing as much effort, maybe yours will do the same. I agree that its very well worth it, no question.

Nice mod

I installedd the B & M Ripper on my 04 two weeks ago and only wish I had done so two years ago. I agree with the above wholeheartedly. The difference is unbelieveable; like having a new car. Do it !!!!
Stiffer shift but feels like a vette should. C5 XTC

Never heard of a shifter dropping fuel economy.

I have a b&m ripper and love it. I also changed the tranny fluid to royal purple sycnromax and it seems to shift a little easier.

Anyone with the Hurst and having to use a lot of force to get past the detent for Reverse?

I've taken out all the hard springs and used the light ones, barely doing anything and reverse is stil a beeatch to get into gear
