Default Tires

Hello I'm A New Member Here And New Owner Of 97 C5 The Question Is The Old Owner Had 295/35/18's On The Rear Then Went To 295/30/18 To Replace. Once You Get To 45mph The Traction Light Comes On The Motor Shuts Down.everything Goes Normal When You Press The Traction Button On The Console. Do I Need To Go Back To 295/35/18 Or Computer Needs Tuning Old Owner Said This Started Happening When The Tires Was Changed

You HAVE to have about a 1/2" difference between the front and rear of the car. You need to ahve a taller tire in the rear. I've seen people get away with less than a 1/2" but that should be a good rule of thumb.

Same here with 295/35/18 rears. Seems to me the combo you have should work, but, I'm no expert. From an old CF thread the front to rear tire height ratio must be 96% or more or the traction control will misfunction. The 1/2" rule seems about right.

265/35/18 = 25.30" diameter
295/30/18 = 24.97" diameter

As others have stated the diameter of the rear tires should be at least 1/2" bigger than that of the front tires. You can see that that is clearly not the case here. So simple answer to your question, yes go back to 295/35/18 tires in the back and the TC will be happy once again.

...or load up smaller tires on front...(not my recommendation)
