Default Extended warranty

I just purchased a C5 and I'am interested in getting an extended warranty. I was wondering if anyone has had any dealings with Access Warranties? They are offering me 5 years or 75,000 miles, bumper to bumper, for $1810.00. There is a $100.00 deductible every time the car goes in for repairs. I was hoping some forum members can let me known if this is a good deal.

I would stay with a GM plan.

I purchased Warranty Direct 1.5 years ago. This year I've had a window regulator go out and 2 months later the alternator. No problems at all with Warranty Direct.

I was able to get GMPP from Ken Fichtner Chevy as I was just inside 36 mos/36K mi (actually 5K miles) otherwise I would have gone with Warranty Direct although I didn't like their "hard sell." There is another thread about WD refusing repairs on a slightly modified car. If you're modded, you won't find a good warranty. Read fine print carefully.

Sorry, but haven't heard of that warranty company before. IMO, its best to stick with a known company like GMPP or Warranty Direct.

REad the recent postings here regarding warranty direct. Whatever you do, don't mod your car and expect them to pay for anything. Stick with GMPP if you can get it. And don't let anyone tell you your car is too out of warranty to get one. You can have it inspected by a dealership and then you can purchase the warranty. I did. And the price you say you got quoted from the unknown company is too high.

I got my GMPP extended warranty from Fichtner. Ken is a great guy, and I really needed his help when GMPP refused to honor a warranty repair on, believe it or not, the column lock.

GMPP sucks. Fichtner is great.

I'd never waste my money on a GMPP again.

Get the cheapest one you can find. You'll be arguing with all of them anyway.

Agreed- if you can get a GMPP on the car then that would be the way to go...I just bought my 2000 MN6 coupe with 7800 miles and GMPP. I have the ability to extend this when the car gets 36K miles and got a quote from Ken above...its very competitively priced and its from GM...only thing I will do is wait to do any mods (headers, intake etc...) until I can't warranty the car any longer...better safe then sorry when they come and say "that red shift boot you installed caused your engine to blow up!!!" if you have to go aftermareket warranty then make sure you check out the company you go with prior to signing...you could even go as far as asking a GM dealer if they had any dealing with them...

I have a third party warranty on my wifes car from our Credit Union...Intercontinental Warranty Services (IWS) never had to use it but from what I have been told...they are not bad to deal with...just have to play by their rules...

Big thing is Mods though...be careful...they will try to void out a claim if they suspect anything major done to the car...

I purchased a warranty from Carmax when I bougt the car, and it's covered several costly repairs without any problem.

Don't buy an aftermarket warranty.
Take the money you are going to pay
on a warranty and put it in a bank savings that
will be there if needed. Chances are that
you will come out waaay ahead. If you
just like peace of mind, then go ahead and
get the warranty. Remember, these companies
are in business to take your money, not fix
your car, so if they can get out of a repair,
they will. Tread carefully.

Shop around. I am planning to buy a GMPP 60 month/40,000 mile extended warranty for $1,070.
To get the GMPP, your car still has to be under the original factory warranty.
