The last guy to tighten the drain plug must have been Superman, or thought he was. I am having difficulty removing that plug.
Question: Before I end up stripping the plug, I need to know if it is threaded in the normal way or if it's reversed. Sorry for the dumbazz question, but I really don't want to strip the threads in the oil pan.......TIA..........Tom

When you go under the car from the drivers side- pull the wrench towards you to loosten, push the wrench away towards the passenger side to tighten. I remember it by saying to myself: "Don't hit yourself in the face with the wrench idiot- when you are taking the drain plug off!"

Normal threads, not reversed. I would get a breaker bar and work it loose slowly.
Thanks guys. I got it fine with a 15mm open end wrench. "righty tighty - lefty loosey...." was correct, so thanks again. I don't know what it would cost to replace the oil pan, or if it could be re-tapped, but I hate to think of the cost of a new pan ...........Tom
- also, get a 15mm six point box end wrench. i picked a long handle 14mm/15mm box end wrench from home depot a couple years ago just for drain plugs - seems like everything out there is either 14mm or 15mm.
