My clutch is pretty much on its last leg and just had a couple of questions that I could use some help on.
First off I was wondering what clutch a 99 Vette already has in it. I've heard that it may be the same clutch thats in the Z06. Not sure.
And second what would you recommend for a replacement. I have the usual aftermarket stuff i.e. air intake, exhaust, and headers. I really dont plan on doing to much more to it so I dont need anything heavy duty for high horsepower. I would however like to get something better but dont want to pay an arm and a leg for it as well. Thanks in advance to any help i get.
ya get what ya pay for if a z06 clutch is heavier maybe that will fill youre needs. if not beadvised alot of people complain of pedal effort and chatter choose wisely little grasshopper. give RANGER a ring . he seems to have vast knowledge on stick shift vettes . hey yea has anyone actualy ever seen this man. i mean does he really exist? maybe he's a computor? just a joke ranger calm down set this guy straight

What are the symptoms that cause you to say your clutch is on its last legs?
How many miles are on your car and, if you know, about how many launches has it made?
Get the new Z07 clutch setup and 04 slave and master cylinder and be done with it, they are affordable from Fred Beans
I have the 04 slave and master cylinder, but went with the RPM clutch setup to support my Sick HP setup. One of my buddies has the Z07 setup in his 550 rwhp setup and it feels like stock and holds his without any issues
I have about 66,000 miles, never been launched as far as on a track. A few times on the street. And I dont know what the fluid looks like.
Before conclude that a new clutch is in your immediate future, I suggest following the cheapest approach to remediation...cleaning up your clutch fluid. Costs less than $10 and involves only a few minutes at a time over several weeks. Once the fluid is clean again, you can better determine whether more expensive steps are needed.
With that in mind, here are three clutch fluid issue threads to review:
