Default Seat Bolster Question

My driver side bolster inflates but won't deflate. When you move the switch down to deflate you get nothing, move it up and it tries to inflate. Whats the best cure without taking it to the stealership and having them break 4 more things?

Dealership or buy new seats.

This may sound stupid but give it a shot...

When i inflate the bolster, the motor runs and it stops running when it determines the bolster is full.

I guess im telling you this because maybe you think the bolster is inflated but its really not. This would explain all the things you mention.

It should also stop running when it determines its fully deflated.

Even deflated the bolsters are still a pretty good size...

No, its inflated......I was hoping there was an easy hose to disconnect to let the air out and keep them deflated. I like the ride with them deflated but stupid me inflates them to see what it feels like and now I am stuck with them like that!!!!

I was hoping it was an easy fix but it sounds more complicated.

There are air hoses but i dont know if there is a connection that is easy to disconnect. I had trans am seats with the inflatable bolsters and it was easy to connect and disconnect the air hoses, but then again, the passenger seat had the motor that inflated the driver seat where as the the vette seats each have their own pump.

There HAS to be a reason they wont uninflate, but my brain isnt working right, right now....give me some time...and ill check my service manual too.

The lumbar support inflates and deflates, the two side bolsters move laterally and are powered by an air pump too. From your description I think you are referring to the lumbar support. There are two types of systems, since you have an '02, it is the later system. If you have sport seats, you can access the air bladders that do all the work by lifting up on the seat back insert cushion. It raises like at hatchback. You do not have to remove the seat from the car to do this. Just release the hold-down tab that runs horizontally along the length of the back of the seat. Once you have access to the bladders you should be able to find the cause of your problem.

The sport seats have the inflateable bolsters. The sports seats are the ones that say CORVETTE on them and have a hole just below the headrest. There are three buttons on the side of the seat that activate the bolsters (assuming you have sport seats). They ar ethe three rear most buttons...

you could swap controls from L to R, they have the same PN; that is often the problem, the air pump is under the seat, they are somewhat of a pita to remove due to the weight of the seat
