As I started to read this thread I was going to say just get the proper balance first, see waht happens then go from there. But after reading your responses "cord showing on one but not the other" Id say get the alignment, front and rear, by an expierienced vette shop befor you put too many miles on those new tires.

Thanks for further feedback.

So the car's at Discount Tire now and will be ready this afternoon. This particulal location has the GSP9700 machine for balancing.

So with regard to getting the alignment done. I have to take it to the dealership for some possible warranty work. I know it's a silly question, but gotta ask..do you think taking it here would be just as good as taking it to the vette shop for the alignment (considering the Vette Shop may do more work on Vettes)?

Wheel Alignment
That link has some great info. Even a newbie like me can now talk about camber, caster, & toe... ... Okay this is all fine. We understand there's manufacturer's specs, and then performance specs (within manufacturer's recommendations). For most performance, they say get maximum (-) camber, and (+) caster, preffered toe (within manufacturer's recommendations).

Question - Will the alignment shop FIRST set the 4 wheel alignment to factory specs, and THEN do the adjustments for performance alignment? Or they just feed the info in the computer, and let their computer do it?

Reason I'm asking this is, cuz I visited a well known shop yesterday for alignment. They said, they just put the VIN number of the car in the computer, and its automatically sets to the factory specs. BUT, if I've lowered the car, or done upgrades to the suspension, then its a different (more expensive) process.... I'm not too sure how this Hi-tech process works.. I told them I want the Z06 specs, since I'll be having Z06 size wheels & tires. They said its called modified alignement, therefore more expensive. BUT if I DID HAVE A Z06, and they punched in the the VIN numbers from THAT Z06, this I guess it would be considered "Factory specs", but GIVING me Z06 specs is considered "Modified ?"...

Great info on this forum.... Please, keep it coming..
