Quick TIRE Question...
I need to change the rubber on my 2000 vert.
Can I use anything other than stock size tires on my stock rims?

You can safely go up one size. 255/40/17 up front and 285/35/18 out back.

Does changing to these sizes make a
visual difference or one I'd notice in handling?

cars that you upsize tires usually ride better, altough your spedo will be off a bit, not much, nothing to worry about..

Well being that the sidewalls will be a little shorter and the tires a little wider it should help in the handling department.

Wouldn't one size up from stock (245/45-17 front and 275/40-18 rear) be 245/40-18 and 275/35-19?

Visual difference in stepping up on size will be about 3/8" wider. Just stick with stock. IMHO

Well that would require changing wheels as well. He asked if he could fit different size tires on his stock wheels.

You're entirely right MYCoupe, I don't know what I was thinking. Your one size up recommendation was right on for stock wheels.

I just had 245/45/17 and 295/35/18 Michelin PS2's mounted on my 00 Vert. I was told you shouldn't mount the 295/35/18's on the 9.5 inch rim, but I see no problem with the way the tire fits or handles, and it hardly even bulges at all. We are talking .5 inch from suggested rimm with. Now I am wishing I had went with 265/40/17 up front. If you decide to go stock and are going with PS2's, shoot me a PM I might cut you a deal on a set of 245/45/17 PS2's with only 30 miles on them. By the way the ride is so much better then the runflats!
