I need some help. I going to start doing my own oil changes in my 2000 cp. Who has the best price for mobil 1 and what weight should I use here in Florida?

Just a word of caution - make sure that the oil that you buy is the original Mobil 1 - per the manual the recommended weight is 5W-30. Also be sure to look for the statement on the bottle that the oil meets or exceeds the GM4718M standard for the Corvette.
Not all of the Mobil 1 products meet the standard, and not all of them are 100% synthetics.

Use 5W30 - its what the car comes with from the factory. Around here, Wal-Mart generally has the best price - around $22 for a 5 quart jug. Remember, you need 6.5 quarts to fill the crankcase.

I believe all "Mobil 1" oils are 100% synthetic, the other one being "Mobil 1 Extended Performance", but the other Mobil oils are not. As you said the "Mobil 1" is the one that meets the GM 4718M (Corvette spec) depending on the weight.

If I'm not mistaken, not all "Mobil 1" oils are 100% synthetic. I believe the "Mobil 1 Extended Performance" oils are blends and thus should NOT be used in our vettes.

Nope....The only difference in Mobil 1 and Mobil 1 Extended Performance is that the extended performance version contains more additives to extend the oil change interval to 15,000 miles.

Read about them on the Mobil website.
You're right, my mistake. But does "Extended Performance" meet the GM4718M standard for the vette? I couldn't find that on the website.
Edit: A further search found that "Extended Performance," while being a full synthetic, does NOT currently meet the GM4718M standard, so it's not recommended for use in our vettes.
