26k miles, do not know if it has been fixed. Steering wheel will not turn, keeps saying service column lock. How can I make the thing quit locking the wheel? It is going to be hard to get it to the dealer if I cant steer it!! This is a recall isnt it?
Turn the ignition key to the off position and remove it from the ignition. Next, firmly tug the steering wheel back and forth several times. Then insert the ignition key and turn it to the "on position" without starting the engine and the column lock should release. This has worked for many people including myself. Hopefully it will work for you.
Then install a Column Lock Bypass, but first, if your battery voltage is low, charge your battery or replace it.
