Default Paint/scratch question

I have a few very minor scratches on my black 2000 Vette which can only be seen from just the right angle. Regardless, I know they're there, so obviously they bother me. Is there any way to get these out without having to take it to a shop?

It will have to be polished out. If you are new to polishing, it is a good idea to use a Porter Cable dual action polisher with some pads designed for cars along with a good swirl or scratch remover. The only bad thing is, from my experience the paint on a C5 is pretty hard and Ive had a hard time removing minor scratches from my C5 with the PC.

I've had good luck with Meguiars scratch X (walmart, autozone) and a soft diaper cloth. Also works well on CD's when scratched. Can be used with buffer on larger areas( one dot with other cleaner/polish). Make sure you reapply your wax protection when finished.

Thanks for the info. I actually found another similar thread from a few weeks back, and having read through that info I'm not sure if I want to try this myself, as I'm worried about making things worse as I haven't had much experience with this. Does anyone know of a good place I could get this done in AZ, or what I might expect to pay?

The Car Care Discussion section of the Forum is the best place to ask these type questions. Several very knowledgeable people and a few professional detailers hang out there. Some of these folks should be able to offer you more suggestions and recommendations.

Good luck!

Some very careful use of 2000 grit might remove the scratches, but I'm with you, some things are best left to the "experts". There's a few Corvette clubs in the valley, you might get some recommendations for professional detailers there. Go to the Pavillions and ask around for good paint shop recommendations, not for repaint, but buffing or color sanding.
