Was backing my car off my trailor and had the door open trying to see behind me and the door got stuck on the trailor tire and ripped a small chunck out of the outside panel.
Get it fixed... they make SMC repair. My car got hit about a week after I got it... I almost killed the guy. The 1/4 had to be replaced but hthe damage to the door skin was cut out and repaired w/ the proper SMC repair materials. It's like new.
Im sure the above mentioned method works excellent, but I personally have never been a fan of body panel repairs. Unless the work is done by the absolute best chances are you will see some sort of imperfections in the paint. I would personally have the entire door skin replaced. Good shops can also match the texture of factory "orange peel" in the clear. In this case it would look 100% factory. If you arent familiar with the term orange peel, go look down the side of your car at an angle, you will notice a texture similar to an orange peel. Factory paint is notorious for this and if it is not matched properly the repaired door will stand out like a sore thumb.
Hope this helps.
Got a quote for 600$ to fix the door. seems like a lot when I can buy a whole new door for $200 + shipping when he told me the dor itself would cost $800 if th shop bought it before painting. Is he trying to rip me off or do they really cost that much for a new door?
