I had to replace the battery. The battery hold down bracket has a bolt, flat (thin) washer, another threaded part, and the the hold down block. Apparently when I took it off, I didn't pay attention to the sequence the parts go in when reinstalled. My bracket bolt is getting tight before the block is fully seated. What is the proper "stack up" for these four components?
Disconnect negative battery cable. (5/16 or 8MM boxend wrench)
Disconnect positive battery cable. (5/16 or 8MM boxend wrench)
Loosen clamp, lift out old battery. (13MM socket the best I remember but you will need at least a 10" extension)
Drop in new battery, making sure it's wedged under the rear tray lip. Tighten clamp. (be SURE it's wedged under the rear tray lip or it will never tighten up, basically there is a lip molded in the bottom of the tray that the back of the battery will slide up under and hold the back down, and the little clamp will go over the front of the battery holding down the front of the battery)
Connect and tighten positive cable. (5/16 or 8MM boxend wrench)
Connect and tighten negative cable. (5/16 or 8MM boxend wrench)
One great thing about this forum is not matter how simple or how complex the question is, someone will normally answer your question. And don't worry about working on the Vette, I was a little paranoid when I first started working on my Vette too.
Here's what I should have asked: does any of the hardware go between the hold down block and the battery tray or does it all go beneath the head of the hold down bolt?
Thanks,
Rick
Edit: Ranger, that is not what I'm asking sir.

Nothing goes under the lip of the battery; all of it is needed to clamp the battery in place, once the rear of it is properly seated.
