Default 2004 ZO6 windshield part number

Does anyone out there know the part number for a 2004 Z06? Is the glass on a late model Z lighter than the coupe? My glass guy is trying to convince me all 04s are the same.

your glass guy is wrong!!! the Z's windshield was made thinner to further reduce the car's weight.i don't have the parts number;but it is described as follows..."shaded H.U.D. 4.8mm".found this info here on the forum about a year ago.hoped that i wouldn't need it,but hung onto it just in case.hope that this helps you out.

Thanks. The part number on the box is GM10315114. The shop compared the glass weight and thickness to the coupe glass and claim the glass is only 2 oz. lighter (vs 6 lbs. as is the rumor on the forum) and is the same thickness as the coupe glass. The glass was $1,800, so I hope it is correct.

I had to replace my windshield on my 2002 Z about 9 months ago. The dealer quoted about $1200 to replace it with the Z06 HUD windshield. A local glass shop I have used before wanted $800 for the same. I also got a quote for a non-HUD windshield for about $500 from the same shop. I asked people on this forum if the non-HUD windshielf would make a difference with the HUD. The answer was a resounding no.

If it's a couple ounces or lbs heavier so be it. I went for the $500 version and can see the HUD just fine.

For $1800 I would get some other quotes

Hello, finally. I have been a member for several months and have never posted yet. Let me say, I really enjoy hearing from all of you guys. I own 3 collision shops and deal with a lot of glass on a weekly/monthly basis and 1 of my stores specializes in Corvette repairs, including the new Z06. Bottom line on the glass issue is this: Look for a glass shop that sells a reputable brand of glass, like PPG. The average consumer will never be able to tell the difference between OEM (factory) or a good aftermarket. When you go to the glass shop, check for the brand they use. Also, call some of your local body shops to find out who they recommend on high-end cars. Some glass installers simply hire the first warm body that walks through the door and they wind up having to replace headliners, dashes, windshield pillar trim, etc., not to mention quite often scratching the painted surfaces. If you have someone offering to save a insurance deductible to perform your job, beware!! They often use glass that is thinner, wavy and use bonding urethane that is past it's shelf life. Just my .02

1FunZ06 - thats very interesting about replacing the glass with coupe glass and non-HUD at that. I recall reading in the owner's manual that the glass has to be special because it is part of the HUD system...hope I never have to replace the glass but if I do now I know the rest of the story.

Z06fan - thanks for the info - this is what makes the CF a good place to hang out. You know your stuff!

I've been waitng 2-1/2 weeks now for my 02Z06 windshield. forum member got a price from GM direct for 1100.00, safelite auto 902.00+tax installed. Definetly thinner, they should have asked for your vehicle's vin#, to make sure its the right windshield.

I have a 2004 model and stopped by for a quote yesterday. Here is the part number they gave me, which is different from the one shown above, but I'm reading this right off a Chevrolet printed quote:

10426713

I cannot confirm that this is Z06 specific, but I was specific when I told him I had a 2004 Z06. The list price was $1389.55, and they were willing to sell it for $1009.36 at Chevrolet of Issaquah.

Please note that I don't really like or recommend this stealership, and I was definitely there to waste their time a bit since they have only been troublesome for me to deal with in the past.

Here is the response I received from GMPartsonline.com,

"Thanks for your inquiry to www.gmpartsdirect.com.
Here are your part numbers you requested.

10315114 Z06 windshield. We do not ship glass. You would be able to order this from your local dealership. Currently the windshield is on backorder from GM. There is not an estimated time when GM will have stock available. The convertible windshield, with heads up display is the same part number."
