I have a 2003 Z06 and I want to get the windows tinted before Carlisle. Anyone know of some good place in Northern VA (Dulles area). How dark
can I legally get the windows tinted? Any type film I should look for?
VA law is 50% on front windows and 35% on all rear windows. 50% is a crock, it doesn't even look like it's tinted (made that mistake on my old Camaro). I have always taken my cars to LA Tint. They do great work and I've never had a problem. I believe they have a location somewhere in Sterling.
BTW, you can get away with limo tint in this area.....it all depends on the cops and how bad of a day they are having. Just don't give them a reason to pull you over, because that is just one more thing they'll tack onto the ticket.
John don’t get tint of what it looks like during the day. If you want you can check my car out one night and you'll see why. Sometimes it's hard to see clearly, and that could be a problem.
Check next to Pallone Chevrolet their is a stereo shop and that’s were Fairfax County Officers go. I have 5% on my car and have not had a problem. If I get pulled over it's because one of the guys that know me want to shot the shxt.
Once again no need to be so hard on Police Officers, remember it's are job to give tickets. In fact I'm sure at one time or another one of you have been cut off by some dip and the first thing out of your mouth has been he deserves a ticket (among other words and gestures). Just act like you have some sense if your stopped and you will be OK.
Hey Lee, I saw your response and by no means am I bashing police officers, please don't misunderstand. I am always very grateful that you guys are out there keeping us safe and I understand you are just doing your job.
I've actually had a police officer tell me that I was the nicest person he's ever pulled over and that I made it easy on him by being so nice. He didn't let me off with a warning and still gave me a ticket....but it was nice to hear that I made him feel "comfortable" - so to speak. (Sidenote: I was in my Maxima, not my Vette.) I can't even imagine what you all have to deal with each and every day.
I apologize if I offended you or anyone else in any way.

Rob,
Thanks for your comments. But no need to apologies no offence taken. I just hate when people get on the bandwagon because of one bad experience.
Anyways, good luck and hopefully I’ll se you on the road, I go to Dulles Town Center from time to time. I’m in Lorton so if I can help with anything let me know.
By the way is that your Hummer in the avatar? I’m thinking of purchasing one but prices are still very high.

Nope, not my Hummer. That is at the Hummer dealer in Tysons Corner......just thought it would make a neat picture.
I go to the Dulles Town Center cruise-in every now and then as well. If you see me up there, be sure to say hi.
I like LA Tint on Richmond Hwy in Alexandria, VA. They have done all of my vettes and have done a *great* job. You will have to be the judge how dark to go.

I went to LA Tint in Sterling, too. They will do 35 percent if you ask. They told me that enforcement of the 50 percent rule gets more relaxed as you head westward, away from the District. For my part, I've never had an officer give me a hard time about it.
