Just bought a 2000 C5 my first Corvette and drove it 7hrs. home last night.
I love the car it needs some detailing but great overall condition. I was almost home and hugging a clover leaf turn when all of a sudden my foot starts getting wet from under the dash. I had the A/C on all the way home so I suspect the drain is plugged anyone know where to get at it I'm recovering from a broken knee so I'm not to mobile. Thanks
Thanks. My Dad was helping me wash the car and we noticed the passenger side carpet is soaked bad he sat in the car while I hosed it down and nothing seemed to leak past the door seals. I still think it's A/c related looks like I have my work cut out. Not what a new C5 owner needs as an introduction.
Been there, done that, got the Tee shirt. My udders got clogged a couple of months ago and the body control module and column lock relay got wet. Have the drains checked ASAP!
Well the seat and carpet is out drying and we pulled the battery and the long snakey drain was o.k. so the front wheel will come off tomorrow to get the access panel off to check the A/C drain hose.
It's only on the passenger side so what else could it be?
Well I went back in the garage and located that a/c drain hose and got two fingers on it and yanked it out and a bunch of water drained all over the floor. After looking inside it had some white chunks in it and since it's a fair size hose with a puny hole in the end it was acting like a one way valve damming up the end.
As a precaution I am taking all the drain hoses off and snipping the end off.
The Corvette Forum is an excellent source of info. for diagnosing problems.
Thanks guys.
Let me know how you get the sucker back on. I haven't had the guts to pull mine off to check yet because it looks like a pain to reinstall.
I took mine off and cleaned it and cannot put it on. The space you have to work with is small and very difficult to get your hands in there and snap it back on. I have heard that it is easier if you jack up the car and attach it from underneath the car. I will try that soon!
I managed to get mine on from the top but it was pointing 90 deg. it's now pointed downward but not straight down. You can only get two fingers in there and the wiring harness is in the way. Clean the tube and lube it up with armor all that way it slides on easier and you may have a better chance of turning it. Does anyone know if it's easier to get at from underneath?
I also found out the battery is leaking so now I have to deal with that mess and the battery looks new? It's a AAA battery that's leaking from the top seal.
