Default engine mods game plan: your thoughts

Hey everyone, although this is my first post iv been lurking for a number of years. I own a 04 z ce and i've got the bug to do some mods. I dont plan on tracking the car, but i do want to increase the FUN FACTOR for the street. Here it goes: LG 205 heads with G52 cam, pro long tube headers, Halltech intake, Underdrive crank pulley< ported throttle body. I was thinking about keeping the stock ti. exhaust. Opinions or suggestions appreciated...Thanks

Sounds like a "sound" plan. Should net you about 425-440 rwhp in a nice drivable package.

yea it sounds like a balance package, but im wondering if its enough gains for the price ($6'000) plus finding someone to do the install and knows how to do the proper tune. speaking of which, would anyone know where i can get the install done in northwest p.a. (erie area) still doing the research. may have to ship the car to L.G. for the install...

Grady,

You might try talking to the guys at East Coast Supercharging. I don't know where you are in PA, but if you're on the eastern end, they are top notch guys and know these cars. I was talking with Doug (IIRC) this summer out at a track event at Pocono and we discussed some of these alternatives. He suggested a phased approach to doing this, basically go with the headers and X-pipe, free flow cats and a good tune, and see where we're at. He also had some suggestions about a moderate cam and springs that sounded pretty good, all keeping the cost within reason for the amount of rwhp we'd be adding. I'm driving my '03 for the year pretty much stock (just added a Vararam, that's all), and maybe consider doing some tweaking over the winter.

Regards,
Steve

If I were you, and I was a couple of months ago, I'd shop around. I managed a H/C pkg, with pulley, oil pump, and FAST90/LS2TB for less than 5k. I bought some stuff used, (FASTand TB) but got top quality heads (Trickflow),cam and the rest. Of course I already had headers, so if you have to get those too, it'll be more.
