Undercarriage shield?
So, I went to install my CAGS bypass this weekend, and was shocked to see that the entire undercarriage was covered by a metal plate. There was cutout for the exhaust, but the rest was just flat metal. Couldn't even see the tranny to change the cable.
I had a 2000, and I don't remember any shield on the bottom. In fact, I never saw anything like this before. Is this something new, something Z06 specific, some weird aftermarket thing, or what?

Remember that the transmission is in the rear and not behind the bell housing on the engine. The transmission and differential are all open and easily accesible.

It's true that floor is made up of balsa wood, but it is concealed by metal on the top and bottom surfaces.
