Default aftermarket alarm

Since the factory alarm and key fobs never seem to work, I'm thinking aftermarket. Any suggestions? Thanks

I think that's the alarm they just did a tech article on in CAR CRAFT (Feb '07 issue). It has some neat features!

I bought the Compustar remote start paging alarm one. Spose' to be the best one, around here anyway, or so Im told.
Its still sitting on my coffee table though, so I cant comment on its quality.

So has anybody tried to steal the coffee table yet?

Yes it's paging range is decent, it shows point of attempted entry on the key chain pager screen..you can add remote start and window valet.

What do you need an alarm for? If someone wants you car bad enough, no alarm will keep them from getting it.

As long as thieves have tow trucks and flat beds, you don't need an alarm......Just make sure your auto insurance is always paid up....

It is not really the alarm features some people are after. It is a key fob that works, can roll down windows, start the car, ect. The origional poster even mentioned wanting it to replace his factory fob.

I would like to get it because while at a restaurant the other day my other car got "bumped" leaving it with rubbed off paint and a small dent.It doesn't make sence to take it to the insurance because the deductible will be more than the cost of the damage. With the alarm it will call some attention to it because I always try to park my C5 in view. The insurance will pay a percentage and give a discount for the alarm upgrade.Plus I like the idea of the valet windows and FINALLY A WORKING FOB!

I have an Omega Echo2 on mine and I absolutely hate it. The fob is too big, every time another key in my pocket hits one if the buttons, the thing goes off or beeps or unlocks the car or locks the car or something. Every time someone just walks by the car, it beeps. Whoever installed the thing took some of the A/C piping from under the dash and didn't replace it, and cut into a couple of different wiring harnesses. And it was supposedly done by a PROFESSIONAL. I would gladly trade it for the original.
