Default Window problems

I'm sending this for a buddy who has a C5 2000 with a passenger side window problem. He brought his Helms manual over and we looked through it and decided it might be beyond us. My vettes are a 1988 35 aniv. and a 1996 LT 1. The problem is that the window doesn't want to go up or down. It will go both ways however you must apply pressure on the top. It seems to be scratching it on the very front part of the window. He took it to a window place and he thinks it will probably cost $500 or so to fix it. He said this was a common problem with the C5. Anyone have any suggestions as to how we might fix this. Any help would be good. He helped me install a new interior in my 96 so I thought I would try to help him.

I had to have a new window regulator put in but my car is an 03 and i had a warranty. Some of the other guys on the forum have other ways to get the window to go up or down by slamming the door very hard and pushing the down button at the sametime but it did not work for me.The other forum members i am sure will chime in with what they know about this problem............Charlene
