We lived in Calgary for 7 years, so it was usually a day trip.
Banff Hotels get sold out for most of the summer/early fall . Make sure you have a reservation.
Canmore (just east of the Banff park entrance) is another option
Rim Rock Inn is also very upscale.
Rundlestone lodge is nice but in town.
Douglas Fir resort , doesn't have the view nor the price.
