Yes. It was very easy once you get the dreaded key or pin out of the C5 shifter. Took about 20 minutes overall. Ordered the part on Ebay....believe I paid about $85 for it. Once the C5 shift was off, the new one just screwed right on in its place. I am no car mechanic so if I can accomplish this task without destroying my car, anyone can do it.....plus the new shifter works great and looks even better! Good luck!
I think he stated he's wanting to put a C6 shifter "****" on a C5 shifter. The application of the two are totally different. The C6 **** slips onto a shaft and it is secured by a set screw in the side of the shaft. As you probably know, the C5 shaft is threaded so the C5 **** is screwed on from the top and held in place by a "demon key". I've read somewhere that someone had taped the C6 **** so it would screw onto the shaft. I'll see if I can locate the thread.
My suggestion would be to buy the C6 Z06 shifter to go with the C6 ****, if you already have the ****. You'll like the shifter a whole lot better than the C5 shifter. Totally different feel.
If you don't already have the **** you can buy the entire package from Fred Beans for around $200 shipped to your door.
