Default Wheel sensor problem. What to do?

Okay, I had a nail in a tire and I took it to the place where I got the tires. They have an extremely good reputation for dealing with high-end cars like Corvettes.

They repaired the tire but as I was leaving, I saw that the tire monitor for that wheel was blank. The other three were reading normally.

I took it back and they said they don't do anything with the sensor, but they took the tire off and remounted it.

After they did this, it was working. I was happy, everything was wonderful...I thought.

I stopped to get gas and when I cranked it again, the wheel was showing blank again. I drove to the local Cheverolet dealer and they couldn't take me today so I came home. Later I went out and cranked it again and I'm getting a message, "Monitor system needs service" and now NONE of the tires are showing on the monitor.

Am I screwed or what???

Default Training

Try retraining the sensor 1.turn on ignition 2.clear any warnings on dic 3.press DIC reset button for 3 seconds 4. train FOB will show press options again and tire training will come up 5.press reset until the tire you want to train comes up 6.Hold a magnet (speaker magnet will work ) over valve stem for about ten seconds and horn will honk sensor retrained Hope this works just had new tires and rims and brand new sensors same problem a okay now

If they are the originals, the may have just bit the dust. unlikely but possible since its on a 98. try a relearn. if it works for a while, then goes offline again then it may be time for new sensors.

Miles is not what wears out sensors as mentioned in that ad. They are supposed to be good for about 10year(the battery in them) most seem to run out 7+. You have to get the '97-2000 type that are more expensive than after that year. Got mine at Fredy Bean...best price i could find at $75 each so about $300 + shipping for four new ones. I was putting new rims and tires on my 2K so bit the bullet. Was having some trouble with one of the old ones, not all the time. You can buy just one if you want to.
Good luck, hope that's all it is.

Sounds like it also could be the monitor system on the car if all of them are not reading now. Would try the reset, the have the dealer check if that doesn't work.

I just replaced all 4 of my tires and had the same problem.
I trained the tires but the sensor still read 0 psi
I messed with the D.I.C for like an hour than thought that taking a ride down the roaad might reset them.

What do you know it did.

1.Clear your display screen
2.Hold reset for 3 secs
3.Let it cycle through
4.You will need the sensor tool to wake them up
5. ride a mile or so down the road
This is what I had to do

Weird but it worked

First try resetting the sensors (see link below). Then take your car for a drive. You most likely will need to get the car up to at least 15 mph after resetting the sensors to wake them up.

Resetting Tire Pressure Monitors

Good luck.
