Default This is a Hoot...

Bought an 02 Millin Yell Z about two weeks ago 4500 miles. Has the dreaded differential weep.

Made an appointment at the local dealer (Who said they had a Vette tech on board) drove 30 minutes to the dealer and this is what I got...

Service manager - "Your car is to low we won't/can't work on it, can't get the lift under the car... You have a lot of mods on your car", (car has a Vararam and Borla stingers) I said, HUH???

I said, Dude your a dealership you can't find a way to get a lift under that car? (lowered approx an inch)

Service manager, nope...

Then I find out from one of the techs there is no specific Vette tech on board and they lied to me - So out the door I go... Can you believe this ???

Is there a SPECIFIC CORVETTE certification???

I really hate some dealers.
Drive the car onto some wood just like I do whenever I put my car on a lift!!! It is lowered just like yours. What a joke. -Mat-

They did you a HUGE favor, you're better off cuz they have no f'ing clue and shouldn't be working on your Z. Find another dealer svc dept.

Default kEY TO HELP

ZZorro,

as a new owner of a 2006 Z06, my first maintenance check up was with the dealership last month. They provided me a crash course on how to do that. I have my own shop equipped with a hoist and I can raise the car as it hasnt been lowered or modified, But with some planks you can get these cars on any lift with some effort.

Now I have purchased Cadillacs from my dealerships before and I am established with them so they take care of me really well.

In fact I have modifed one of these cars and they have not refused to work under any warranty issues because of it. There is this thing called the Magnson/Moss Act that GM or dealers dont want to be invovled with.

The key is to find such dealerships who have aggressive certified mechanics who want and desire to keep your car in top shape and you as a customer satisfied with their work. I can appreciate some dealerships that are not as qualified as mine is and has been, Guess its a matter of being in the right place with the right people.
I would reseach your area to find out who is the best and see what they can do for you.
good luck.

Roger

If you post where you are located maybe members in your area can put you onto where Vette friendly dealers are.

You're no where near the first, and you certainly won't be the last. Good 'ole GM dealerships.

I've called a couple Chevrolet dealerships in my area with questions about recalls on my car. The converstaion ends when they ask me if the car is an automatic or stick. I say, it's a Z06...they say, okay, auto or stick?...I say, bye.

I agree with the others, find a new dealership. You don't want them working on your car.

I had the washer/nut recall done in the Z at a dealer. I watched the mechanic (cool guy) and before he even started he kept walking around the shop, looking, and looking for something...finally came back with 4 2x10 ramps. Drove the car on the ramps, then lifted. And my Z is still stock height. Although he was surprised at the jacking pucks I made and gave him to use.

Man, i got really lucky with my local dealer!! Took mine in for heater motor repair, they had no problem fixing that. While it was in there though, they noticed the "differential weep" and asked if it was ok if they fixed...I said sure!! It is a recognized problem by GM and it was fixed for free. My car is slammed, with a bunch of mods, including nitrous, and they did not have the first problem with it. They were really excited for it to be ini there, b/c all the cars they get are stock. They also have a corvette tech that is very good. Good luck!!
