Looking at buying a 02 vert (electron blue). I ran a car fax on it. It's a local car and doesnt have but 2 previous owners (maybe 1 just in differnet cities locally). It has around 67K miles on it and looks to be in good shape. The asking price started out at $29,995 but down to $27,000. What do you think a "fair market" price would be for a 02 vert? I know what kelley Blue Book says (around 34k). Does this seem reasonable for a vert? Are there any known issues on these cars that you know of? What signs of trouble should I look for? Please let me know your feedback.....
"Sounds" like a good deal. I bought mine nine months ago with 45,000 miles on it for not much more. I've put a set of tires on it and a new battery as well. Check the forum for the list of things that could cause problems. In the last couple of weeks I have experienced the fuel gauge gremlin. At about 1/4 tank the needle drops to empty. After stopping and fueling everything went back to normal. I tried the Techron fuel treatment and changed brands of fuel, as recomended here on the forum, and haven't had anymore problems. Mine is a EB/black/black, A4, 3.15 gears and was nicely equipped when new with a sticker price of $52,165.00. I really like the car and the color. They painted 1902 Electron Blue verts in '02 and '03.
Sounds like a awful lot of miles for an 02, but if you can live with it fine, i also have an 02 electron blue vert, which i bought 1 1/2 years ago for $36,000 with 13,700 miles. i have not had any problems at all. i do plan on putting clb on next week.
I have a 02 EB vert blk/blk (one owner) i purchased 2 years ago wth 30k on the clock for $30,995 the only thing i have had to do was replace the battery no problems with anything else EXCEPT MOD FEVER BECAUSE OF THE FORUM HERE.
Tiger Shark front w/fogs coming 8/23/06
Good luck it sounds like a very nice car and there is nothing like the wind in your hair.

What exactly is the clb that your talking about? What is this used for?

RTSVET
RTSVET,, Love you car.. This looks exactly like the one I am looking to buy. I am going tomorrow to get the financing completed. I am really excited about this car mainly cause it was a local car and the price seems to bbe good. How can I go about determining what all was deliverd on this car (rear gear, suspension, etc). Is ther a way to get that info with the VIN?

That would be a Column Lock Bypass. The column locks on C5's are a known problem area, so many folks disable it completely.
I bought my loaded 02 vert last August for ~$34k w/ 16k miles. The one you're looking at has a fair number of miles for an 02, but sounds reasonably priced. Good luck!
I bought my 02 last Oct for 31k and it had 13000 miles on it. I won't jinx myself telling about any problems but I did buy a warranty direct extended warranty and haven't used it yet.
BTW, if the 02 is an automatic, you don't need the CLB then!!!!!!
02 EB vert here also. Got mine at 13,000 3 months ago. Kelly, Edmunds, ballpark numbers. The color is considered a premium because it's not common and it's eye pleasing. Most of my issues are from sitting for long periods of time, like rubber seals for the roof, antenna sticking, etc. I bought it as extra car, and drive it every weekend at corvette gatherings. Drive it like you stole it!

Tim,
Go here and you can get your build sheet/window sticker and it will tell you everything about your vert.
I would think you could got to a chevy dealer with the vin # and maybe they will help you out also.
I am sure some else on here will chime in to help you out also.

Eltronvette,
I am just wondering what I can do to really check out the vette berofre purcahsing it. I am a little concerned about the 67K miles but atleast this car is a local car based on Carfax. Again, I have gotten them down to $27K plus my trading a Torch Red 96 with 62K miles on it. They are only offering 11K for mine. I was a little disappointed with that offer. Also,I dont plan on driving the vette if the weather appears to be bad.
I'd be a bit concerned about the mileage, but if everything checks out mechanically and the miles are "good miles", it sounds like a pretty good deal, but I would also work on the trade more. Good luck.

Hey Tim,
I traded my modded cherry 96 coupe with a lot of mods in on April first on my 03 coupe. It had 70K miles. I only got 12K on trade for it. The way things work in Texas is that you only pay sales tax on the difference between your trade value and the price of the new car. That being said, it was the same as if I sold the car for 13K. C4 prices have dropped. I think 11K is not a great, but a fair trade.
The mileage is a bit high. My 03 had 45K on it, so I figure it was a daily driver by the previous owner. With me, it is a pleasure only vehicle and I will probably only put about 5K per year on it.
Use the web page above and run the car for the option codes. If you post during the week, someone can run a GM repair history for you. As stated, if you go to a Chevy dealer with the VIN, maybe they will run it for you.
If you're happy with the car and really want it, I say go for it. Just make sure the tires and such are good so that don't have to put more money into it right away.
I loved my C4, but I am very happy with my decision to move into a C5. I have no regrets at all. I still have a huge grin whenever I drive it.

If you know the VIN, a dealer can give you the service history of the car. It will list out all options an let you at least know what warranty work was done.
I purchased my 2002 Electron Blue Vert in 2005 with 19000 mi - great ride with no problems.
Few mods - GHL exaust, Z06 motorsport wheels, vert hoops ect.

8 months ago I bought my '02 vert with 55kmi on it for $27,500. It was a local car in California. That included 20 months and over 20k miles left on a 0 deductible GMPP. I thought that was a pretty decent deal at the time.
sounds good to me, but you have to please yourself. A friend just bouht a C-5 with over 100k and is pleased. Pay for a inspection, $100 or so for a piece of mind. Good luck!
Tim, The suspence is killing me !!! Tell me what happens !! I known the Vette fits your personality and you would look great going to the Cruz In in it next month !! I have my fingers crossed that it works out for you !!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry I couldn't take the test ride with you . If you want to take a look at the under carriage get with me and we will put it up on my ramps and check it out.
