Having house reroofed when...
Having my house reroofed. We are doing a tearoff of the old roof, down to bare wood. I left my '04 Z (Z-16) in the garage covered, with a tarp over the cover.
Well.... I have, make that had, a flourescent light fixture directly over the car, running across the car at about the windshield/hood area. The !@#$% light came down and put a scratch in the passenger side corner of the hood about a half inch long, pitted the windshield and scratched the plastic trim piece that goes up the windshield to the roof.
I have insurance to fix this all, and I am going to fix it, but.... I am wondering if it is really worth while to fix the hood ding. The idea of bondo on a carbon fiber hood is not something I want to do, let alone have the hood repainted and new decals installed.
Has anyone had a Z16 hood repaired and been happy with it? I'd rather live with the ding than see the whole hood botched....

Yah... It's not something I want to do. Even the replacement of the windshield is an issue. How would you verify that you actually have received a Z06 windshield after it is installed?
I don't blame you for hesitating. I'd hesitate too as "making things worse" by some monkeys at a body shop, imo, is likely. My vote is to live with it, for now at least. You can always decide to get it repaired later if you choose. Sorry about the car "boo boo".
IMHO, if it's not that bad, leave it alone. Or get a little touch up paint from paintscratch.com and do a careful touchup on it just to keep it protected. The one I'd be worried about is the windshield. The Z has a thinned windshield. You say it "pitted" the windshield. If it's not too bad and not cracked, put some Crazy Glue in the pit to keep it from throwing off fractures. If it is cracking, chances are it will get worse and you should have it replaced. Just be sure they put in the lightened Z06 windshield, not a standard C5 windshield.

I'm gonna call the insurance company Monday. Dunno if they will replace, if something is 'repairable.' This car doesn't have 3,000 miles on it yet... I'm bummed...
1. IF all you have are some scratches in the carbon fiber hood,
2. AND you want to repair it, you can use some two part epoxy adhesive as a filler. Clean the scratches with alcohol before applying the adhesive. Let is cure sand & do some paint touch up. The hood is made of epoxy and carbon fiber so the materials will be compatable.
