I have a 2004 Vette coupe with the OE polished thin-spoke wheels. Car was built in May '04.
My lug nuts are all metal -- I do not have the plastic caps or the 'keyed' lug nuts (one per wheel, like my C4) others have mentioned on this forum. Nor do I have the special 'key' socket -- the indented area for this gizmo is empty on my car -- cuz it's not needed, I suppose.
When did the Chevy gods abandon the plastic caps and keyed lug nuts?
you searched long and hard to come up with this question huh????
i dont have a clue but i have to give you a bump cause i know out there somewhere, someone does have the answer to this

Thanks, in advance, for the history lesson!
I believe it was late in 03 when GM went with the stainless steel lugs and also dropped the locking lugs.
My 02 didn't have the locks but had the gray caps. I changed to chrome and they kept getting stolen so I ordered a set of chrome lugs from Bob at House of Wheels.
