Default Corvette Newbie questions

Hi,
There seems to be a tremendous amount of knowledge here, so I hope someone can help me.

After 25 years of dreaming I finally purchased my first corvette. It is a 2004 commemorative edition and still under warranty. There are a couple of things that I am not sure of and was wondering if someone could help me.

1.) The memory setting doesn't always remember even though I push the key fob to open the door. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. Anyone have this problem?

2.) The passenger side climate control does not display the passenger side temperature when turned. Is this normal?

3.) The tread wear on the right front tire doesn't appear to be wearing properly after 14,000 miles. It looks like 3/32 outer edge, 5/32 inner edge. I read that sometimes it is alignment so I am going to have it checked. Has anyone been succesful getting tires replaced if there is not really a bad alignment problem? BTW I am running the EMT run flats.

Thanks in advance.

Hey Slade, welcome to the forum and Corvette ownership! You're going to love both.

As to your questions, here are a couple things:

1. Make sure you close the door before you insert your key. I don't believe the memory function works with the door open. If that isn't the case, try cleaning the resistor pellet on the key. Sometimes a dirty pellet will cause the car to do funky things.

2. The passenger side temperature control will not show a temp setting on the display. It's kind of relative to the driver side temp.

3. Most of the time, the greater wear will show on the inside of the tire since the alignment specs are pretty aggressive. Odd that it shows on the outside worse than the inside. Have the alignment checked. Also, proper tire inflation is a must. Check it at least every time you fill up the gas tank.

Make sure you read the stickys at the top of the page. They're very helpful for n00bs.

Once again, welcome! You're gonna love it here! Remember to wave!!

Thanks TK.

I set up an appointment to have the memory setting and the alignment checked.

This is supposed to be a certified used car but I doubt anybody actually checked the alignment. I know I said 5/32 inner edge, but I actually meant center of the tire for 5/32 and 3/32 on the outer edge. The car doesn't really pull left or right except when I apply the brake - the car pulls slightly in the direction that the tires happen to point at the time of braking.

Again, I appreciate the quick response and the help.

Here's a practice wave

I'd check the alignment on the car - sounds like a problem there with the wear pattern you are describing. Doubt you'll get any help on replacing the tires though.

Welcome and congrats on the Corvette. Make full use of the warrantee while you have it and you may want to buy the extended before the 90 day warranty ends.

Best of luck.

Welcome to the Forum. Sounds like a great Vette you purchased. I found it very informative to read the owners manual on the DIC and the memory functions or refer to it if need be. Also, if you got the video with your vette it is a good place to start too.

The memory does several things besides the seat. Also, I could find nothing to tell you how to move to a new disc in the 12 disc changer. Finally found the #5 button on the radio would do that when in disc mode.

Good luck, have fun.
