Default Do I have a gauge illumination problem?

I left for work this morning and it was still dark outside. My lights were on and my gauges were illuminated. I haven't noticed this before, but the illumination of the tachometer was a bit dimmer than the illumination of the remaining gauges. Is that possible? I'm not familiar with the illumination technicalities to know if it would be possible for the tachometer to appear dimmer than other gauges.

Thanks...

Any luck adjusting the illumination with the **** to the left of the cluster? Hard to say if anything is wrong on not since the light at dusk can make drastic effects on what you see. Pay attention in the dark.

No luck with the adjustment. The tach part of the gauge cluster remains a bit less bright than the surrounding gauges. More noticeable at night. Is there a series of bulbs behind the gauges? I'm thinking if there is, the one in the center may be out or dim. May be time to visit my local Chevy dealer.

Thanks...

I am not certain but, When I had my guages out to put on the bezels several years ago, it seemed there are two Black lights(or UV Lighting) on either side of the guages. It would make sense that if the one went out on the tach side, it would be dimmer then the other side.
I think the guages are lighted soley from the front and there is no backlighting.

I have the same problem and I have seen it on other cars. There are two UV lamps, one on each side. I took my console out and they both work maybe they are getting dimmer. You cant replace these lamps yourself and the local dealer told me they would have to send it somewhere to get the lamps replaced. This problem gets a lot worse if you install aluminum gage bezels because the raised bezel throws a shadow since the cluster is lit from the side.
