I was wondering if I shoul polish my rims. They are the thin 5 spoke rims (powder coated), on my 01. They look great when they are clean, but once the brake dust gets on them.....Has anyone polish there own rims or just pay someone else to do the work?

If they are OEM rims, they are clear-coated, so anything abrasive is a no-no. Just treat them like you do the paint - coat of wax, Zaino, your choice.
fwiw, I keep a small California duster just for use on the wheels - a couple of quick swipes with the duster and I am good to go.
im not sure of the type, but its mothers polish in a little jar for polished aluminum wheels
Right, you're missing my point. That polish is for bare polished wheels, where the polish comes in direct contact with the polished metal. We are saying the stock GM polished wheels are NOT bare polished metal. There is a layer of clearcoat over them. Thus, when you polish them, you don't polish the metal, you polish the clearcoat. Hence, use polish for clearcoated surfaces, not for metal, or your stock GM polished wheels. The aluminum polish is not for clearcoat.
