FOB Question
My FOB has stopped working. It will work when I train it, but forgets after that. I have cleaned it with contact cleaner and made sure the battery prongs are hitting the circuit board.
In looking at the circuit board I notice what I would call a capacitor in the upper L/H corner of the board. It is loose and appears that it should be soldered to the board there. Can someone with their fob look and tell me if it is soldered. I will try to add a pic when I get home if I do not get a reply.
Thanks in advance.

I think you found a potential culprit of your problem. I had the same issues a while back and remember reading a post about re-soldering that component. I hate to say do a search, but i think if you do you'll find a post speaking to exactly what you're talking about.

I did a search and did not find anything on the soldering. I think I am going to do it and see what happens.
My question was if that piece was supposed to be soldered to the board like it appears.

Do you only have 1 FOB? I think Vettes came with 2.
So look at FOB 2 if you have it.

Did not get a second FOB with my car, that would make it too easy. I bought a second on EBAY, but a week and a half later I have not seen it yet.

You can do this key for $100 just add the optional board and you have a new Key/Fob. Pretty cool. $100 plus the board for $15
