It's been awhile since I sold my first vette. Like 20 years awhile. Looking for a convertible, prefer and automatic (I know, I know, but knee surgery changed my mind). What should I expect to find for 25 k + or - ? Better to go with older/lower miles or newer/higher miles? I'm a stock, or close to stock, kinda guy. I'd like to keep the modifications to intake and exhaust and cosmetics. Am I looking for a '98 or '00? Miles?
25k will get you into a very clean 98 or 99 with around 50-65k miles. There are some good deals out there, so don't jump on the first one you see. Also don't count out the coupes. They have removable tops, very close to a vert with the top out, and you can get more of a car for the same amount of money with a coupe. good luck
ummm, we picked up a clean y2k coupe w/ 32k miles for less than that. back in ancient rome when they shopped for corvettes, they used to say "caveat emptor". best of luck. bub
Hey, My buddy is selling his 99' C5 convertible 6 speed right up I35 from you in Kyle. Low miles(40K), nices C6 wheels. Real nice, the car is perfect, check it out...I know he is willing to work on the price a little.
Here's a 98, Torch Red Automatic with VERY LOW MILES considering it's age. It's somewhat local too, if you're from S.A. It's just a tad above the $25K you're looking for, but in my opinion, having low mileage is worth the extra 5 grand.
25k will get you a nice car. You can get a very nice 99-00 with < 45k with some add-ons any day of the week around here. I guess it does depend on the area. Look around in about two months and you will have your pick of cars in that price range in and around the snow belt.

It's not just timing and luck, it has a lot to do with what season you purchase...wait till winter if you can and find a smaller dealer. I snagged a sweet black '01 coupe, mn6, both tops, mag wheels, and just 22k miles for $26,900...two winters ago! Generally, something like that isn't moving in the winter and is absorbing a lot of potential inventory turns (1 vette not moving or 3 $10k pickups a month). The spring through early fall months are the most expensive months to buy a Vette. As always though, caveat emptor, and good luck!

5 grand is just "a tad?" Seems like a tremendous premium for an 8 year old mass produced car. Lots of other choices for 30k...in my opinion of course. (Don't give me a ticket )

My 99 Coupe A4 w/ 23,000 miles was $23,000 fully optioned except for mag shocks. It was/is in superb condition.........so if you keep looking, there are great deals to be had.
I bought my 2000 immmmmmmaculate coupe, only 30,000K, for 25 at that corvettepalace (excellent place), with all available options including those magnesium wheels
I just bought a 2001 auto, mag red, removable top everything except the adjustable suspension for $21,300 with 44K ... 2001's and up have 5 more HP, but a lot more low end torgue ... also paid $10 on ebay for a dealer book on the 2001 vette ... feels like i bought it new
Thanks for the input, guys. I checked out the "What makes your vette special" thread. Might have changed my mind about stock. Holy smokes, there's lots of nice rides out there. Sounds like prices dip a bit in fall and winter. I'll keep my eyes and ears open. Plan to be back in the saddle soon.
While I agree the season in some parts will play a role- but here in FLA it is vette season year round!
For what it's worth - I just bought a 00 MN6 Torch Red Coupe with every single option (including dual tops, HUD, Selective Ride, Magnesium Wheels etc...) and 7800 miles on the clock for $26500. It also included 2 years 24 month GMPP that can be extended for another 24 months. The owner also put on a corsa Indy Tiger shark catback and X-Pipe!!
It is flawless and I could not be happier!
You should get the newest, lowest mile unit you can afford (even if it cost's on the + side of $25K. I was originally going for a Z06- but when I saw this....I had to jump on it.
