no I completely agree. Set it out side for the night. Set up cameras and I know it will hurt SO much to have it be keyed again. But if you have ill refusable proof of them commiting the felony they or their insurance company will have to pay for every penny to get it painted.
Also if they're underage. Their parents insurance company will have to pay for it AND they'll get put on probhation. DOUBLE EDGE SWORD BIATCH.
keep us informed.
First of all, vandalism is a misdemeanor crime, and has nothing to do with anyone's insurance company. Insurance companies are for accidents and not deliberate acts of vandalism. Vandalism doesn’t become a felony until the damage is over $1,000. The suspects would have to be caught, charged, found guilty, and sentenced. Then the judge may order repayment of the damages. Otherwise, your option is to sue the family in civil court, in which you would need a preponderance of evidence in your favor and then you would still need the judgment in your favor. If they refuse to pay the court ordered judgment, then you would need to hire a collections agency. It’s just not worth the hassle. Just kept an eye on your car and keep it garaged. Never leave your car out as bait. Just my $.02 cents.
Thanks for the advice. I am going to install cameras, and I will post a pic tomorrow, at work right now. I will file a police report, notify ALL the neighbors and monitor with a harddrive this weekend. I will catch them and then take them to court, if I don't hurt them on my property first.
Yea, I know, won't be the last. My 2002 Electron Blue Convertible with 17,000 has a 5 inch scratch down the rear quarter. You can see primer underneath. Almost looks like it was keyed, and we have been having issues with some punks/family down the street. And I live in a upper class neighborhood. Always drive it directly in the garage, watch were I park, don't drive every day. We left it out last night till 10, before putting it in the garage. Can't prove anything, want to level their house so they move on. Anyone know of any terriorist looking to sell a RPG??? AGGGG!!! Jealous haters!
Can I fix without quarter repaint?
I think it's safe to say if you have 5 inches down to the primer, you were keyed. You're SOL though, unless they come abck and you catch them on camera.

Just a fyi, the reference to a Double Edged Sword is used when someone's beneficial action has an inevitable, undesirable reaction. I think you meant insult to injury. In which case you're right, but I bet the kid would go do it again anyway. Hate me for being a know-it-all, just a pet peeve, sorry.

just fyi.
Not being much of a Biblical scholar that's entirely possible - even likely. I know that Shakespeare said it....regardless of the origination, the point is well taken. Thanks for the correction, Josh.
That sucks. I found a similar scratch, but only a little smaller, in the same area of mine after work one day. I hit it up with some swirl remover and my PC one Saturday. It didn't remove it, but its not as noticable.
Do you have a wireless network set up at your house? If you do, here a cheap security camera you can add to it and it has the ability to record when it senses motion. Its less than $120 too.
Even if you get the panel painted Electron Blue and Magnetic Red are hard to match. after its done look at it in sunlight or good lighting before you pay up.

Sucks when people can't leave things that don't belong to them alone. Sure hope somehow you can find out who did this. And, good luck with getting the scratch repaired.

Bro, don't notify anyone...sit back with your cameras, then watch and wait.....
upper class neighborhood means nothing in this case. some of the most obnoxious and low class people i know, live in upper class neighborhoods!
