Are there any body conversions available for the C5's to the Callaway C12 styling?
My current understanding is that the C12 and C5 are very similar as Callaway took the chassis and LS1 (they did make some modifications though).
No, they were only released as "built" vehicles, and due to the price tag that accompanied them, I'd doubt you'll ever see Callaway release the body as a kit...but who knows...???
The C12 wasn't a "body kit" per se. It was more like a completely new car that used a C5 Corvette as a donor. Every body panel, except for the roof, was replaced. Inner body structures were modified significantly. The frame itself was also modified for increased structural rigidity. New forged control arms were installed to increase the car's width. Special coil-over suspension systems replaced the GM parts. 27 cars were built, 2 race cars and 25 road cars, to meet homologation requirements. MSRP of these cars ranged from approx. $185K to $250K. Road car engines ranged from 440 hp/5.7L to 480 hp/6.2L to 550 hp/7.0L.
It could never be offered as a body kit.
We have a DVD available that illustrates the construction of the prototype car.
CF Member Englandgreen emailed me some pictures of a couple of C5 Body replacement options (including Lambo-like looking wheel wells) but I dont know where I put them. They were pretty cool looking widebodies They went for about $19 Large. Very expensive but extremely unique. I would PM HIM IF i were you

Beautiful car without a doubt. Please dont flame me for this next statement....it's only out of curiosity/knowledge simply because I cant quite figure it out after years of pondering (non-stop)
For $185-250K, as stated, why isn't there more horsepower considering the new 'Z is being sold for 65K with just as much hp? Granted this was back in '98 but still.
Again....put the flame-shooters back in your closets.

FWIW, a 911 Turbo is $135K but has less HP than the Z06
Those are the style of headlight the General should have put on the C6 intead of the Viper style they went with........Just my 2 cents
thats def one of my fav parts of the c12....
thx for the info mcv! im interested in that dvd by the way...where can i pick one up (im thinking it can provide me with inspiration). Also would it be at all possible to order ANY of these parts or get their specs - perhaps down the road i can use some and custom fabricate my own body style or something. thanks
im thinking the cars were so expensive because a) they were probably hand built, b) only 27 of them, and c) being performance (and im not just talking about the engine)

But since when has GM been creative? Sure woud be nice if there was a way to convert the C5 front to look like the Callaway. I'm sure Callaway woudnt like it very much though. I'M Thinkin there is a design patent of some sort

Call Joanne at Callaway Cars (860-434-9002) for the DVD. It's also available in VHS.
There aren't any spare body panels available. In fact, some of the body molds were destroyed in a fire where they were stored in Germany.
I understand that there are a couple of C12's for sale. The best source for this type of info is callawayownersgroup.com.
