I'm back baby!!
The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts

I know the feeling of coming back home as I spent 26 years in the Navy.

It IS great to be home! Eden, the "GREEN, GREEN" you mention was actually a little overwhelming at first. My eyes had gotten so use to the bleakness of the desert that all the grass and trees kinda caused a sensory overload until I got used to it again. It was definitely HOT when I left - and contrary to popular belief, it's not a dry heat. Kuwait is dry (and southern or western Iraq), but not Baghdad. Still, we had it a lot better than the guys who "crossed the berm." I at least got to sleep in AC most of the time, even if I was out all day in 70+lbs of gear. No digging holes and sleeping in them like the first folks did. Also, it was a little weird at first to drive around care free... I found myself cringing a few times as cars got close or passing roadside debris worried that it was an IED... That passed in a few days though. Most of all, it was just great to squeeze my wife and kids and cover them with kisses. But yes, Chris, I REALLY missed my Vette too.
The JetHot-coated LG Headers came shortly after I left, but I'll wait to install them now until I get up to RI. Anyone know any good tuners up there? I LOVE Newport!! It's not official yet, but it's basically a done deal I'm told. I'm VERY excited about it! We'll miss Jacksonville, but I knew when I decided to stay in, we'd have to leave it. We'll be back. The job in Newport is a great one, and my son (3) is all excited about the snow and the chance to play ice hockey. Each climate has it's advantages. I probably won't get much scuba diving in for a while, and I'll probably garage the Vette for the winters, but I'm really looking forward to it. Time to start sailing some more!
Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers!
Vaughn
